AUDACIOUS thieves weren't finished when they stole the wheels from Caroline Fawkes' £12,000 Volkswagen Golf.
They turned up the following day at her Unsworth home and stole the car. And they even chatted to neighbours, claiming they were recovering the car for Miss Fawkes' insurance company.
In the first incident, thieves removed the four wheels and propped it up using bricks from a neighbouring wall. Windows were also stolen.
Caroline immediately contacted her insurance company who said they would get the windows and the wheels replaced. But before anyone turned up, the thieves returned and dragged the Golf on to a low-loader using chains.
The 27-year-old, a strategic finance manager with a firm of Manchester chartered accountants, said: "When the two men were taking my car away, my neighbours came out and spoke to them. They assumed they were from the recovery company."
The Volkswagen Golf was a works vehicle which Caroline had been using for just six weeks.
