A DOG owner has been told she will face court action after her pets attacked a little girl.
And today the victim's father repeated his call for the animals to be put down.
Emma Clemence, 21, of Dickens Street, Blackburn, said she has been cautioned by police and told to wait for a summons.
The court could now order her Staffordshire Bull Terriers - Bruno and Cinders - to be destroyed and Ms Clemence could be sent to jail.
She said the dogs attacked 11-year-old Samina Talaty, also of Dickens Street, after a relative left a door open at 4.30pm on January 7. Zahid Varachhia, of Sidco Mini Market, in Walter Street, and Sajid Mahmood, of Copperfield Street, had to kick the dogs away after rushing to help.
If the case is dealt with in a magistrates' court, the maximum jail sentence Ms Clemence would face is six months. If it is heard in a crown court, it could be two years.
The courts also have the power to destroy dogs if it feels they are a danger to public safety but regularly allow them a chance to be retrained after a first 'offence'.
Samina needed hospital treatment after the attack and her father Umar wants the animals destroyed.
Mr Talaty said he could not live with himself if they attacked again. He added: "I know the law says that if a dog attacks someone twice it is automatically destroyed but as a parent my conscience won't let me take that chance."
Ms Clemence said she is dreading her dogs being taken away from her. She added: "I don't want them to be destroyed and I don't think they should be."
The dogs live with their owner and her children - Dion, four, and one-year-old twins, Jack and Jordan - and she claims they have always been well-behaved in the past.
