ON Sunday I was taking my dog for her usual walk on the field when I came across what looked like a broom handle. In an effort to clear the the path I kicked it out on the way. As it shifted I noticed that taped to the end was an eight-inch kitchen knife.
It would appear that someone had chosen to manufacture a spear. For what purpose God only knows. Maybe the spotty-faced adolescents who terrorise the neighbourhood have decided to stop vandalising local property, including snapping car wing mirrors on a weekly basis, and now blatantly carry lethal weapons.
Can Tottington have a police presence to attempt to curtail the wanton, motiveless damage and downright annoyance that these people are causing?
Could I ask the parents (they know who they are) of these children to take stock of their kitchen drawers as I don't want to fall victim to a rolling pin with a potato masher attached. It is surely only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured.
Rest assured, the general public will not allow this to continue. I do not condone violence, but before long the residents will take matters into their own hands.
They say Britain is civilised, but if you come to Tottington you will need a shield, full body armour and earplugs to combat the "Moped Mafia", especially near Scobell Street and Sycamore Road.
What about this for a novel idea? Maybe the police could send up a patrol car every once in a while.
