A NEW-look gallery at Towneley Hall, Burnley, has reopened after two months of refurbishment.
The gallery has been redecorated in pink to enhance the collection of mainly Victorian pictures - many 19th century artists designed paintings to be shown against a crimson backdrop.
There are now 72 paintings on show, including many that have not been displayed for some years.
Keeper of Art Fiona Salvesen, said: "The new colour makes the paintings sing. Every time we brought a picture from the store to put it in the display all the staff noticed a huge difference in the colours."
The Watercolour Gallery is currently being refurbished and will reopen in February with an exhibition of work by Lancashire photographer Christopher Speake on February 7.
The hall is open Monday to Thursday 10am to 5pm, closed Fridays and open Saturday and Sunday noon to 5pm. Admission is free.
