REGARDING Councillors Eileen Entwistle and Dave Smith's remarks about Darwen's level of funding compared to Blackburn's and the role of North Turton as one of seven Darwen wards. Just what world are they living in?
It was their council's report that stated Blackburn gets more cash than Darwen, a fact the people of Darwen have known for many years. But no, our elected representatives will not accept this. Is this another case of it's my report and I will say it means what I want it to say, not what it says.
In politics today the people who we vote into their jobs seem to have lost a grip on reality, down from our defence minister to our local councillors.
Is it not time that we booted out petty party squabbles and political correctness in our town hall and went back to common-sense politics.
At the end of the day, it is us who elect these people to serve us, a fact many of them seem to forget. The elections in June this year present us with an opportunity that is unprecedented in recent times.
All Blackburn with Darwen's councillors are up for re-election, a third place gets you a seat on the council.
This should allow the law-abiding, decent, hard-working people of Blackburn with Darwen an opportunity to ditch the old guard who have failed us over and over again and vote for a new set of representatives that could make a difference.
DAVID WILD, Clifton Street, Darwen.
