COLNE came down to earth with a bump after the high of their FA Vase victory at AFC Wimbledon.

The Reds tried to play football on a poor pitch and also battled back twice to earn what could be a valuable point in the light of other results.

Colne started well and should have been ahead at the half-time whistle. But despite starting the second half strongly they fell behind when a mistake by Paul Walker let in Winsford's Neil Holden to score.

Stung into action, Colne poured forward and Webster's through ball left Ian Simpson in a one-on-one with the keeper but again the chance went begging.

But he atoned for his error five minutes later when, again clear, he slotted home the equaliser.

Walker came forward to hit a drive from the edge of the box that tested the keeper and a James Webster free kick seemed to have produced a winner only for the header from Richard Walton to be saved on the line.

But with just five minutes to go Colne were again found wanting at the back and Winsford took the lead.

Kieran Roberts came on to make his Colne debut and, with two minutes left, a long throw from Walker caused problems for the home defence and Carl Haworth came in at the far post to earn a point.
