REGARDING the inscription on the Cenotaph in Great Harwood's Memorial Park for Marine Robert Anthony Clark, the members of the Royal British Legion, Great Harwood Branch, would like first to thank the Lancashire Evening Telegraph for bringing the matter to the notice of the public.
Thanks also must go to Mr Brian Entwistle for first informing us of the omission and also to for Mr Marco Lysiuk, stonemason, for generously offering to do the work for nothing.
Thanks must also be given to Messrs E T Birtwistle, Undertakers, Great Harwood for their kind offer to pay for the work to be carried out.
As for Hyndburn Borough Council's leader Mr Peter Britcliffe, stating that he is willing to look at the matter again, now that the cost would be minimal, we feel that it is an insult to Marine Clark and his family.
L MYERSCOUGH (Chairman), Royal British Legion, Great Harwood Branch.
