A MOTHER-of-two sold drugs from home in what was described in court as a "retail operation".

Preston Crown Court was told that people came to the Bacup home of Julie Kenyon and Kevin Barry to buy drugs.

Kenyon, 27, ended up in the dock after she sold drugs to undercover police officers five times in July last year.

Kenyon, of Yorkshire Street, Bacup, pleaded guilty to five charges of supplying heroin. She was sentenced to a 12-month Drug Treatment and Testing Order.

Her former boyfriend Barry, who admitted similar charges, was jailed for three years and 11 months at an earlier hearing.

Paul Treble, prosecuting, told the court undercover police officers sent to Kenyon's home on several occasions in July last year and were sold heroin. When arrested she said she had sold drugs to pay for her addiction to obtain drugs through her boyfriend.

Andrew Nuttall, defending, said Kenyon was " highly motivated" to deal with her abuse of drugs which she had suffered from the last eight to 10 years.

There was no prosepect of the relationship between Kenyon and her co-defendant starting. Kenyon wanted to be free from drugs forever.

Judge Edward Slinger told Kenyon: "This was not just the odd deal and the odd wrap on heroin. There was almost a retail operation going on at your home."

Had she been sentenced to a term of custody, the sentence would have been three years. He said the Drug Treatment and Testing Order would be a "last opportunity".

Judge Slinger added: "If you are back on drugs, you know what will happen."

An order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
