THE police CCTV van will be touring Briercliffe next week to give residents the chance to take a closer look at the vehicle.
The £80,000 mobile CCTV unit, which was funded by Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale councils, has been operating in the Pennine division for six months.
It is equipped with six cameras, monitors, video recorders, police radios, a public address system and other equipment.
People in Briercliffe will be able to see how the vehicle is used to help tackle anti-social and criminal behaviour when it visits the area on Thursday, February 5.
From 2pm to 4pm it will be at St James' School, then from 4pm to 5.30pm it will be near the recreation ground on Queen Street before moving on to the Spar Shop, in Burnley Road, where it will stay until 7pm.
The tour has been organised by local police community support officer (PCSO) Dave Johnson and community beat manager PC Ian Thompson. PCSO Johnson said: "The visits will enable local people to see what the van has to offer, especially local youths.
"We hope that once they have the seen the quality and quantity of images it can take, they may think twice about causing juvenile nuisance problems because they will never know whether the van will be around and where it may be parked."
