THE form and fortunes of Heysham Atoms have won recognition from higher up in amateur rugby league circles.
Four players have been picked out to play in trials for representative teams as a result of their form for the fast improving local outfit.
Eighteen-year-old prop forward Liam Hall has been named to represent North Lancs in the county trials for his age group, while try-scoring winger Andy Garnett has been invited to trial for the BARLA Ireland team in Coventry this weekend - with a summer tour of North America awaiting the successful players.
Meanwhile, students Chris Connaughton and Alex Batson, both newcomers to the Atoms this season, have represented North West Students in a trial weekend to pick the British Students Squad.
Atoms were without a game on Saturday when the opening round of the BARLA National Cup was postponed - but the next two games could prove to be interesting.
The Atoms play Ashton at home and Folly Lane away, with both teams sitting above them in the North West Counties league table.
But the renewed confidence of the Atoms - who have turned things around since opening the campaign with seven straight defeats - means the results are anything but a foregone conclusion.
