THE wave of hysteria against mobile phone masts is utterly ridiculous.
Many people are quite happy to enjoy the benefits of modern technology, but they react with primitive hostility to any proposal to site the equipment necessary for these marvels.
I would like to ask the protesters one question. Do any of them use mobile phones?
If the answer is 'yes', how do they think the phones would work without the masts necessary to transmit the signals?
In addition to personal mobile phones, police, fire and ambulance communications systems all rely on masts.
