FOLLOWING the tiny mention on the Darwen news page informing us that Lodgeside Community Association have submitted plans to install a hard surface on Watery Lane field, I asked myself what good would come of it? I'm sorry to say that the answer has got to be none.
This must be one of the last remaining places that children can play on a field. All the others have been built on.
I regularly see children at play on this field taking their own nets for the goal posts and taking cricket sets down.
Why do we need, and I quote from the limited information on the planning application, "Hard surface, Tarmac, surround fence?"
We should be preserving areas like this, not destroying them and erecting eyesores that will attract even more juvenile nuisance.
Aren't members of Lodgeside Community Association also involved with a Conservation and Wildlife group in the area?
