EAST Lancashire hospitals have not seen any significant changes in admissions despite bad weather conditions across the county.
Apart from an increase in the number of people arriving at Blackburn Royal Infirmary's Accident and Emergency Department with fractures from slips and falls it has been business as usual.
A spokesman for the hospital said: "At Burnley the adverse weather conditions have not had a severe impact in terms of trauma cases.
"Emergency admissions remain high although this has been the case over the whole of the winter period , mainly due to patients coming with medical problems, particularly of a respiratory nature.
"The Accident and Emergency Department staff report that they are very busy, although no more than usual.
"The hospitals at Blackburn are also described as' very busy' and medical admissions remain high although not particularly as a result of the recent bad weather."
A number of contingency plans, including the opening of additional beds to meet extra demand, have been put in place across the Trust to cope with winter pressures, she said.
