BURNLEY new boy Bradley Orr is convinced Stan Ternent can take his career to the next level.
Magpies boss Bobby Robson persuaded Orr that a spell under Ternent's wing can help him make the leap from reserve team skipper to the first team at St James' Park.
And the midfielder, 21, is itching to make an instant impact at Turf Moor and show his Premiership class.
Orr, who was in the Clarets squad to face Wigan this afternoon, said: "I want to come here and prove to the gaffer that I'm good enough.
"That is first and foremost, and then hopefully get a few games under my belt and help Burnley.
"There was a point not so long ago where I couldn't go out on loan due to injuries at Newcastle.
"Now a few of the players are back and Mr Robson said it was the right time for me to go out, get a bit of experience and a few games under my belt."
Orr, who has yet to play a competitive game at either Premiership or Nationwide League level, admitted: "It has been frustrating.
"You're going to training every day, you're doing well, travelling with the squad and thinking this might be your chance.
"So far it hasn't come, which has been a bit disappointing. But from that I've had the opportunity to come to Burnley and what I have to do now is prove to people that I am good enough.
"Then, if I do go back to Newcastle after one month or three, I've got to prove to them that I am good enough for a place in their first team."
Orr, a former school friend of Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard on his native Merseyside, has been at United since his early teens, honing his talents while admiring role models Alan Shearer and fellow Magpies midfielder Gary Speed.
But a nagging lack of opportunities led to conversations with two other Liverpudlians, both with Claret connections.
And after Jay McEveley and Paul Cook both raved about their own times at Turf Moor, Orr had no hesitation when Clarets chief Stan Ternent came calling.
He added: "I spoke to Jay over Christmas and he loved it, while Paul has nothing but good comments about this club."
Bolton striker Delroy Facey joined West Bromwich Albion yesterday for a knock-down fee of £50,000.
Clarets boss Stan Ternent had been keeping an eye on Facey's situation at the Reebok in the hope of luring him back following a successful loan spell earlier this season.
However, as we revealed in later editions yesterday, the Baggies have pounced to strengthen their squad in a bid to bounce back into the Premiership at the first time of asking.
