THREE fairy godmothers, a wicked witch and a cuddly panda are just some of the interesting elements in Temple Street Pantomime group's February pantomime - The Sleeping Beauty.

The production, which runs from Thursday to Saturday at the Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, Colne, begins at 7.15pm, with a matinee performance on the Saturday, at 2.15pm.

Geoffrey Holgate once again takes his regular role of panto dame, with Eric Beardsworth and Suzanne Edwards as the King and Queen, Ann Martinez as Oddjob and Kay Mitchell, Jackie Dutton and Natalie Atkinson are the three fairy godmothers.

Helen O'Connell takes the part of Prince Handsome, supported by Jenny Mitchell as his servant, while Evonne Beardsworth and David Smith are the baddies of the piece.

The title role is taken by Stacey Whittaker alongside Matthew Rowland as her panda bear, Cuddles.

OSWALDTWISTLE Players' performances are typically spirited affairs.

But the players' April production will prove a little more spirited than usual.

The show - Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit is an improbable farce that tells the story of Charles Condomine, his deceased wife, Elvira, and his current wife, Ruth.

Elvira is a mischievous spirit brought back from the dead by Madame Arcati, who begins to wreak havoc on Charles' life. It is one of Noel Cowards' best known plays and will create a challenge for the special effects department.

Blithe Spirit will be staged at Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre in April.

ST Thomas' Players present Treasure Island, a pantomime by Jim Sperinck at St Veronica's Centre, Helmshore.

The production will run from Tuesday February 17 to Saturday February 21 with no performance on Wednesday.

A FAT, plain, bespectacled girl makes for an unlikely heroine in Blackburn Arts Club's production of Wedding of the Year, to be staged at the Club Theatre, Gibraltar Street between March 2 and 6.

Produced by Andrew F Bell, Wedding of the Year is a tale about a young girl called Alison Murchinson whose Uncle Frank decides to make her dreams come true by entering her into the local newspaper's competition for a Wedding of the Year.

Frank selects a designer to create her wedding dress, arranges the church, reception and honeymoon all before one important piece of the jigsaw is found - there isn't a suitable husband!
