COMMUNITY groups in the West Craven area are being given a last chance to apply for grant funding of up to £800.

The West Craven Community Grant Scheme must spend all its money by March 31 and is appealing to people to stake their claims as soon as possible.

The scheme, funded by Pendle Council, is open to groups who have been active in the area for at least six months, have a bank account and have not received a grant from the fund in the past 12 months.

Assistant regeneration officer, Ben Terry, said: "The grant scheme will cover up to 100 per cent of capital expenditure costs up to a maximum of £800.

"This could include purchasing equipment or materials for activities or events or refurbishment costs..

"We are urging community groups in the West Craven area to get in touch and apply for a grant before the end of January in order to spend the money before the end of the financial year."
