GARRY Flitcroft is the 'head boy' as far as youngsters at St Paul's Primary School in Feniscowles are concerned.
For the Blackburn Rovers skipper visited pupils to present match tickets won at the school's Christmas fair, but took time out to greet every child in the school...all 208 of them!
Garry was representing the club's main sponsors, HSA, who had donated the tickets for the school's prize draw.
In front of the assembled schoolchildren, he presented the tickets to winners Rory and Miranda Myles.
He then toured the school, chatting to pupils and signing autographs.
"The winners had the chance of coming down to the training ground or me coming here to present the tickets," Garry said.
"I didn't expect to be doing it in front of the whole school, but it's great to meet the kids. They are all really well-mannered and it's nice to be noticed.
"I've been at Blackburn seven years and I've always had a good rapport with the fans, but it's usually adults I meet. To be welcomed by the kids is very nice.
"As captain of the club, I think it's important to be seen out in the community."
Rosie Morris, headteacher at St Paul's, said: "It was wonderful to have Garry here and magical to see the children's faces. To actually see a player in person and for him to take the time out is wonderful.
"This side of a footballer's life, working in the community, isn't really seen. I think the children really appreciate the fact Garry has given up time to come and see them."
