ACCRINGTON Stanley have been rocked by a transfer request from Lutel James.

The 31-year-old, whose 33 league goals fired Stanley to the Conference last season, has become frustrated with playing on the right flank for the majority of this campaign, while top scorer Paul Mullin has employed as a lone striker.

Despite accepting the request from the former Bury striker, Stanley are hopeful James, who was on the bench for last night's Marsden Trophy win at Bamber Bridge, will change his mind and remain at the club.

"Hopefully he won't have to move on," said Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell.

"In the last few weeks he's been asking to play up front and he's not happy playing on the right.

"In the right frame of mind, he can play there and he's a very good centre forward as well, there's no doubting that.

"But if we play 4-5-1 he has to come to terms with the fact that he's there to do a job, so we're hoping he comes round to our way of thinking."
