MAY I say 'thank you' to Sir Anthony Holland, Chair of the Standards Board for England, for his decision in barring ex-Cllr Robert Bleakley from office.
Maybe, with Mr Bleakley gone, local politics will return to what they once were.
Over the years Mr Bleakley and his cohorts, through their Focus leaflet, have claimed to have done many things.
It is about time the Lib Dems grew-up and started to take politics seriously.
I am not a member, nor have I ever been, of a political party, though I confess I have always voted Labour.
I could write an essay on things I have done that have brought a better quality of life to the community. But I would find it demeaning to be churning out leaflets telling the public of these achievements.
Before the Lib Dems claim another success I will inform people that work on Tyldesley Baths is imminent with money set aside to bring the pool up to Disability Discrimination Act standards.
Improvements will include automatic doors, and much better changing and showering facilities for the disabled. My wife and I have been working on this project since 1991. Some jobs take longer than others.
