A HEADTEACHER has issued a warning after tickets were sold supposedly in aid of a children's special school.
Colin Myers, head of Two Porches at Atherton, was alerted to the scam by charity champion Brian Strett after a woman claiming to be selling scratch cards at £2 a time called into Mobens, the Leigh mobility specialists where Mr Strett is a director.
"A small woman with shoulder-length, curly brown hair called in the shop saying she was selling draw tickets for handicapped children. She said all the proceeds would go to Two Porches," said Mr Strett.
"The prize was a holiday to Thailand. I became suspicious when I noticed a Belfast address on the ticket and immediately contacted the school."
Two Porches head Mr Myers warned: "Two Porches is not currently running a raffle competition with prizes. We continue to appreciate the involvement and support of the local community. However we would like to alert others to similar frauds and urge them not to be duped in the future."
Mr Myers said Police had been informed.
