RESPECTED Challenge Cup fighters Leigh Miners Rangers will hope to add another professional scalp to their already impressive list when they clash with Sheffield Eagles on Friday.
Even though the Eagles were shock Challenge Cup winners in 1998, the Miners, with the backing of a vocal Leigh crowd behind them, are capable of pulling off an upset.
The Powergen Challenge Cup third round tie will be hosted by Leigh Centurions at Hilton Park, kick off 8pm.
The Eagles, coached by 1998 Cup winner Mark Aston, narrowly missed promotion to NL1 last season when, after finishing top of the table at the end of the league campaign, were beaten by Keighley in the NL2 Grand Final. They also went on to lose a second promotion chance when beaten by Batley for the final place in this year's NL1.
The Miners' form has been mixed this season. They are on the fringe of a play-off place in the Arriva National Conference Premier Division, having won 10 of their 18 league games.
