LEIGH RU Tofts came away with nothing when they visited Broughton Park, losing 5-0.
Broughton took the lead when a defensive mix-up between scrum-half Isherwood and Ken Hilton presented the opposition centre with a clear path to the line.
In the second half Leigh began to take control, firstly by tightening up in defence with Hilton, Fryer, Leake and McKeever all putting in crucial tackles. Then, when back-row dynamo Barry Green switched to stand off, the game came alight.
For almost the whole of the last quarter, Leigh were camped in the home sides 22 metre area. Surge after surge of forward pressure were driven back short of the line with Graham Green and Ian Smith pounding away but just failing to cross. Barry Green made four or five dazzling breaks but was stopped short each time.

Leigh won one of their best ever victories coming back from a 19 point deficit to win with the last move of the game.
The home side dominated the first half winning the majority of possession to score three excellent tries.
The second half was a different story as Leigh used the wind to great effect. Lee Davies was rampant in the forwards and Michael Eccles and Tom Andrews took control in the backs. Aaron Sudell started the comeback when the ball was moved wide. Then Tom Andrews danced through the defence to score and added his second conversion.
With time running out Leigh produced the try of the game as Lee Davies sent Andrews clear and his inside ball sent Sudell in for his second try. With time up Andrews calmly slotted the winning conversion with the final kick of the game.
In an outstanding Leigh performance, Sudell, Andrews, Crompton, Davies, Eccles, Ashurst and Grimshaw were outstanding.
