A LOWTON school has been praised for its outstanding success by the nation's top education watchdog.
On Wednesday St Catherine's Catholic Primary School was highlighted as exceptional in the Chief Inspector of Schools' annual report.
Proud head Mrs Liz Connolly said: "We're all delighted -- children, staff and governors. All the hard work has paid off and it's nice to have acknowledgement. It looks like we are the only primary school in Wigan to get such a commendation which is wonderful."
Chief Inspector David Bell told Mrs Connolly: "Please accept my warmest congratulations and pass them on to your staff, governors and, of course your pupils."
