A CRACKDOWN on illegal alcohol sales has moved to Tyldesley and Astley.
Trading watchdogs are stepping-up their battle against sales of booze to underage buyers following success in other parts of Wigan borough.
An undercover operation is being mounted to target offending off licences and as part of the project volunteers aged under 18 will try to buy booze.
Wigan Chief Trading Standards Alan Blundell said: "We are not trying to catch anyone out by doing this. We would prefer it if no one sold to our volunteers at all.
"The majority of off licence workers are responsible, but a few continue to sell alcohol to children."
Prosecution carries a maximum £1,000 fine and retailers could lose their liquor licence.
