THE real reason for Rovers' failure to get anything from the match against Chelsea was the complete lack of interest from three of our midfield.

The two exceptions being Douglas, who did his best but was outclassed, and Flitcroft who did at least put in a shift. The other three were a combination of lazy and inept.

The only two bright spots from this sorry afternoon was the very good performance from new boy Gray and once again the spirit and skill of young Gallagher. However, I feel sure that with the new players now available to Mr Souness and the return of some the long term injured, the performance of the team will improve dramatically and we will climb the table rapidly.

How about trying Gallagher and Stead together up front; maybe they will show Yorke and Cole that a little skill and a lot of enthusiasm more than makes up for lots of skill but not much interest.
