MY Monday morning blues were lifted by a self discovery article I read in Wigan and Leigh Pensioners' Link's helpful magazine "Linkline". Every point rang a poignant bell.
I started with nothing and still have most of it
My wild oats have turned into prunes and Allbran
I finally got my head together, now my body is falling apart
Funny I don't remember being absent minded
Funny I don't remember being absent minded
If all is not lost, where is it?
It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser
The only time the world beats a path to my door is when I am in the bathroom
If God wanted me to touch my toes he would have put them on my knees
These days I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter. I go somewhere to find something and wonder what I'm here after.
I was waiting in the Railway Road chemist's to pick up a prescription and my eyes were drawn to a notice which read
"Please be patient. I only work here because I am too old for a paper round, too young for a pension and too tired to have an affair."
I know the feeling.
