THE treasure seeking BBC TV programme"Cash InThe Attic" started last Thursday with a view of Pennington Flash in Wigan! It does annoy me.
The programme was in town to help dig out £1,250 worth of hidden riches to help towards paying for Linda and Eric Sykes' elder son Richard's wedding to his French fiancee, Isobel.
With the help of antiques expert, Paul Heyes, and younger son, Robert, they dug out some wonderful antiques and memorabilia to sell at auction in Knutsford. Sadly they didn't do too well, only raising £380 from their many lots -- the worst result I have seen on the show.
Contrary to belief, money was not flowing in the Cheshire town, the buyers there must be tightwads, and they didn't half pick up some bargains.
I'd have been heartbroken to see my lovely old items vanish for such poor reward. The family would have been better off keeping their heirlooms which were worth far more than they raised.
If it had been me I'd have felt well and truly robbed -- but I wish I'd been there to buy!
I'VE had my knuckles rapped for a venue boob I made last week. The Antiques Roadshow, which goes out on BBC on Sunday, was not filmed at Wigan's JJB Stadium but at the nearby Robin Park International Sports Centre. Ooops, sorry folks. It's a good job I didn't go, or I'd have been queuing alone!
