LEIGH RMI boss Phil Starbuck believes his team has turned the corner after their morale boosting win against Morecambe -- and he is confident they can beat the drop.

The Railwaymen got three valuable points against the Seasiders two weeks ago in a 3-1 victory, and now face fellow strugglers Tamworth who lie just one place above them in the Nationwide Conference relegation zone.

Starbuck has been boosted by the return of combative midfielder Wayne Maden, who will almost certainly figure in Saturday's must-win match. But Gerry Harrison, who suffered a thigh strain against Morecambe, and Carl Rezai, are both doubtful and will face late fitness tests before the Tamworth game.

RMI have had almost two weeks off from league duty, but Starbuck said that the time has been invaluable in lifting team spirits and preparing them for Tamworth.

Starbuck said: "We have had two weeks off, and we took the lads to play golf together, eat together, it's been a great team-building exercise. All the players are looking forward to Saturday's game against Tamworth.

"It was a fantastic win against Morecambe and that was what we needed. It feels as though we have turned the corner.

"We have prepared the players both physically and mentally, and if we continue with our professional approach then I think we can reap the rewards on the football pitch."
