ANOTHER month at Gigg Lane will be no problem at all for Stockport County central defender Dave Challinor.
The former Tranmere Rovers stopper is only too pleased to be playing first team football, albeit a division below the Hatters' standard.
Thirty-year-old Challinor has made an immediate impression on the Shakers back line, indeed since he arrived at the club they have yet to concede a goal.
So it's no surprise that he, along with his County teammate Jon Daly, jumped at the chance to continue at Gigg a while longer.
"It was an easy decision to make for me," said the likeable Chester-born player.
"Things went very well for the first month and we picked up some good results.
"Hopefully we can continue that between now and the end of the season and, if we have another decent month we could get right up there.
"We need to be looking at the teams above us and not those below."
Challinor was one of Carlton Palmer's first signings when he took over at Edgeley Park but since Sammy McIlroy took over the reins he has found his first team opportunities limited.
"Nothing has been said about my future at Stockport," he added.
"I have 18 months left on my contract there and if the manager wants me out then they will have to pay my contract up.
"He keeps saying I am in his plans but with all the things that have been happening you start to question it.
"It's confusing, I am here and he has signed another central defender, but football is like that, it can be strange at times."
THE Shakers have re-arranged last weekend's postponed home clash against Southend United.
It will now be played a week on Tuesday on February 17, kick-off 7.45pm.
