WARRIORS were down to the bare minimum of 11 players for this match and in the end they just could not cope with the constant pressure by the Bulldogs.
Leyland were soon 12-0 down following an interception and a breakaway try. They battled on and were rewarded before half-time with a try by Grant Smillie.
Brandon Dixon, Bradley Wilkinson and Sam Singleton came into the game as attacking forces in the second half, with Ben Williams, Ross Cowburn and Paul Haydock solid in defence.
After a good spell by the Warriors, Grant Smillie burst through from close range to bring the score back to 12-20. Matthew Smith put in a clever kick to the corner that David Palin did his best to force down. Paul Turner made ground with some storming runs, but the Bulldogs' disciplined defence continued to make it difficult for the Warriors to create any clear cut chances.
Brandon Dixon was man of the match for his all-round performance, and Ben Williams was top tackler.
Final score: Burtonwood Bulldogs 26
Leyland Warriors Under 11s 12
