WELL, now we know from the vitriolic personal attack on me by 'Details supplied via e-mail' that the majority of retired landau horses do end up at auction, not sanctuaries.
This unknown person who prefers to hide behind anonymity tells us, in between slinging abuse, of a minority of horses that have been lucky enough to find good homes, with no thanks to their original so-called caring owners.
But this does not mean that all horses that go to auction do by any means. Many will go for slaughter or to uncaring new owners.
So, it turns out as we all suspected, that after a lifetime of hard work earning money for their owners, their love for their horses ends and retirement means they are sent to auction and an uncertain fate!
