READER A. Dickinson (Letters, January 23) complains that the town hall has at times flown the Union flag upside down and that the council has yet to respond to his/her comments.
We have to confess that a few months ago we did err and the flag was flown upside down for a short period. But the mistake was quickly spotted and the flag has been flown proudly and properly ever since. The mistake was made because the usual commissionaire was unavailable to raise the flag on that particular day.
We apologise if A. Dickinson feels we have ignored his/her comments, but the council is striving to improve its communications. The public can now can contact us on-line at www.bury.gov.uk and make suggestions or complaints. A paper version, "Your Voice Counts", is also available from any council office.
