PUPILS in Rossendale will have 'Stars In Their Eyes' when they participate in a musical extravaganza that is set to be one of the biggest events of its kind produced in the Valley.
David Heywood, head of music at All Saints Catholic Language College, Rawtenstall, is the brains behind the one-off musical production.
Based on the hit Granada TV show, it will involve pupils from five Valley secondary schools and a handful of primary schools transforming themselves into their favourite stars.
But before the event hits the Valley, a Rossendale woman will be hoping for success in the real version of the hit show. Rachel Bulcock will be performing for a national television audience on Saturday, February 14 when she performs as Canadian songstress Ann Murray.
For the Rossendale version of the show, All Saints are playing host to each of the secondary schools for an individual heat show, where two winners will be chosen to go forward and represent their school at the Grand Final, which is taking place at King George's Hall, Blackburn.
David said: "All Saints is quickly gaining a reputation for large-scale, dramatic shows and these will be no exception." At the grand final, Rossendale and Darwen MP Janet Anderson will be on the overall judging panel to see who will be crowned 'Stars On The Rise Winner 2004.'
Pupils from Alder Grange, All Saints, Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, Haslingden High School and Whitworth High School will be taking part. Four primary schools have als o been invited to perform as a support act at King George's Hall. The heats are at All Saints on:
Tuesday, February 24, Whitworth High School, from 7.30pm;
