TWO men have been charged with attempted murder after a "vicious" attack in a house left a man seriously injured.

Makhdoum Ali, 23, was today described as stable in Blackburn Royal Infirmary with serious head, arm and stomach injuries.

He was taken to the hospital following what police describe as a disturbance involving five men at a house in Whalley Old Road, Blackburn, at 5.40pm on Thursday.

Police said he had severe lacerations to his wrist, head and stomach

Another man, who police have not named, was taken to hospital, but was said to be 'walking wounded'.

Police say Mustafa Ali, 20, and Midgtaba Ali, 19 of Montague Street, Blackburn, who are thought to be brothers, have both been charged with the attempted murder of Makhdoum Ali, who is no relation.

Both men were expected to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court today.

A third man has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Forensic officers were today due to continue examining the scene.

Detective Inspector Simon Giles, the man leading leading the inquiry, said: "This was a vicious attack which has led to one man sustaining serious injuries.

"He is in a serious but stable condition.

"We would ask anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact us immediately."

He added that the incident was reported to police and ambulance services by someone in the house.
