MACMILLAN Cancer Relief has appointed a new fundraiser to cover the east of the county.
Elvira Soria has taken up the post to try and boost the cancer charity's appeals in East Lancashire.
To mark her arrival, Elvira has launched a new appeal to fund Macmillan posts and services that will help local people living with cancer.
She said: "We raise funds for specialist Macmillan nurses and doctors who deliver the best in cancer care; build vitally needed cancer care centres; give financial help to those who need it most; and provide a range of cancer information."
She added: "Although Macmillan is a national charity we are not as well known in East Lancashire as we might have hoped.
"My job is not only to raise £330,000 in the next three years but to raise awareness of the charity and the services we provide so that local people know they can turn to us when cancer crosses their path."
