GILLINGHAM are glad to see the back of Burnley after another fruitless trip north.

Glen Little left the Kent outfit facing more Turf Moor misery following their FA Cup fourth round exit a fortnight ago.

First team coach Wayne Jones moaned: "That's three defeats out of three now this seaons to Burnley and I have to say that with the ball we were rubbish.

"Burnley put us under a bit of pressure in the second half, but I thought we were handling it comfortably until the goal.

"But equally the Burnley keeper had one save to make in the entire 90 minutes and it's not good enough. It's something we have to put right or we will never win football matches."

Jones, standing in for player-manager Andy Hessenthaler, added: "There's no way we came up here for a draw, but in hindsight we would love to be heading back south with a point.

"We switched off completely for the goal. I don't know whether Neil Wood meant to flick it over the top, but everyone in our team, stood and allowed Little to score. For the manner we let that goal in we deserve to be punished."

Gillingham were also frustrated to be without Mail international Mamady Sidibe, whose lack of action in the African Nations Cup has sparked fury at the Priestfield Stadium.

Jones fumed: "We have one of our best centre forwards out in the African Nations Cup and he hasn't even come off the bench yet. "That's a ridiculous situation and it's more disappointing because the result was there for us today, but we never took it."
