THE home side were comfortable winners in this NWCL Division One top of the table clash as the Blues fell to their first away defeat of the season.
On a difficult playing surface Woodley battled bravely and, with a two-goal cushion at half-time, never looked back.
Chris Whittingham had Clitheroe's best chance of the game in the opening minute when he forced a neat save from Liam Higgingbottom.
Woodley took the lead on 15 minutes when captain Micky Ryan headed home from a corner and the second arrived just before half-time when poor defending allowed Brickell time and space to lob the ball over Kris Richens.
Blues started the second half brightly but were thwarted by resolute Woodley defending. Lee Cryer could have reduced the deficit on 65 minutes when he latched on to a weak goal kick but was unable to trouble Higginbottom with his shot.
On 73 minutes the home team wrapped up the points with a close range header from Clive Brown.
The only real positive for the Blues was second placed Mossley being held to a draw by lowly Atherton Collieriess, which sees the Blues keep a two-point lead at the top of the league
