ACCIDENT victim Michelle Williams remains critically ill more than a week after she was struck by a car in Radcliffe.
However, the condition of the 28-year-old mother-of-two has shown slight signs of improvement over the weekend and given her family hope that she could pull through.
Miss Williams, of Knowles Street, Radcliffe, suffered horrific injuries when she was in collision with a Ford Orion in Water Street on the evening of January 31. It was her birthday the same day.
She was initially taken to Fairfield General Hospital but transferred to Salford's Hope Hospital where she underwent more than ten hours of surgery as doctors battled to save her life.
Her parents, Garry and Beatrix, of Ulundi Street, Radcliffe, have remained at their daughter's bedside in the intensive care unit since the accident.
Speaking from the hospital yesterday (Mon Feb 9), Mrs Williams said: "Michelle showed slight improvement over the weekend but she has since developed an infection which is complicating matters. Doctors are still trying to establish the extent of any brain damage.
"Last week I thought I had lost her but we are a lot more hopeful and we are keeping our fingers crossed that she will survive. She is a real fighter."
