PENDLE is celebrating its contribution to Lancashire's victory in a national recycling awards scheme.
The council was one of 15 which introduced a range of recycling initiatives and won an award from the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee.
Coun John David, portfolio holder for the environment, said: "Pendle Council has played an important role in helping the Lancashire Waste Partneship win this award.
"The council has started a number of recycling schemes that are beginning to significantly increase the amount of household waste that is recycled rather than going to landfill sites.
"The council and residents of Pendle should be proud of its contribution to the award."
Pendle Council's has a range of kerbside collection schemes for recycling or composting paper, card, glass, cans and garden waste and well as 36 recycling sites.
Over the next year we it will expand the recycling collection schemes to include even more properties.
