FORMER Burnley striker Gareth Taylor admits he faces an uncertain future at Nottingham Forest.
Taylor says he was shocked to hear about Paul Hart's sacking in the wake of last Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Coventry.
Hart was the man who lured Taylor from Turf Moor to the City Ground last August in a deal worth around £500,000.
Since then, the Welsh striker has scored just two goals in 25 appearances to mirror Forest's dramatic slide into the First Division relegation zone.
And Taylor, who refused to rule out a return to Burnley when he reluctantly quit Turf Moor, accepts he is now fighting to resurrect his career under a new man at the helm - believed to be Joe Kinnear.
Taylor, 30, said: "It was a bit of a shock hearing Paul had been sacked. The results haven't been that great, but it's not that long ago people were touting him for the Leeds job, which shows how highly he is regarded.
"It has left everyone in a bit of limbo at the club now, and I am no different. I have missed the odd game, and I came off the bench on Saturday, but I'm disappointed with my goals return.
"I don't think we have been creating that many chances to be truthful, and we have lost a lot of games 1-0.
"But in many respects I am back at square one now and waiting to see who the new manager is and whether he fancies me or not."
Taylor still keeps in contact with many old friends at Turf Moor, and admits to still having a soft spot for the club where he scored 36 goals in 88 league appearances in two-and-a-half-years.
He added: "Burnley is always the first result I look for and I still speak to people there quite a bit.
"It's a great club and it's sad to see us both down there scrapping to avoid relegation."
