A WELL-known face from Blackburn Royal Infirmary and Queen's Park Hospital has graduated from Liverpool University with a master's degree in clinical nursing.
Janet Carol Woods, 45, was employed at the hospitals for more than 20 years having progressed from a student nurse to senior sister on the planned admissions ward.
She then studied for a post graduate degree in health service management before gaining her masters. Janet, who lives in Pleckgate with her husband Martin, 53, is now employed as a nurse practitioner with Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust.
They have two children Faith, 26, and Matthew, 24, and a 20 month-old granddaughter Isabella.
She said: "It was a big step leaving the hospital but I wanted to get back to the patients as a lot of the sister's job is managerial. That is why I did the degree.
"I am really enjoying my new job but I could not have got here without the support of Matthew and my kids."
