LANCASHIRE Association of Parish and Town Council's discussed the proposed complete restructuring of Burnley Secondary Education.
Burnley Borough Council have intimated that they intend using the Area LAPTC meetings for liaison betwen themselves and the parishes as part of their newly mooted "Area Structures Scheme".
THE following planning applications have been received and can be inspected at Burnley Borough Council's Planning Department in the Parker Lane Offices: Proposed first-floor extension and conversion at 15 Smithyfield Avenue; Proposed two storey extension to gable elevation and single storey extension to rear at 1 Thornton Crescent; Proposed pitch roof and garage extension at 202-204 Brownside Road.
PC Glynn Grey and Police Community Support Officer for the rural area, Dave Johson, attended the recent Parish Council meeting and reported that all is quiet in the village.
AROUND £90,000 has been agreed by Lancashire County Council to extend the school staff room and additional administration area. County Councillor Steve Large reported that he was hopeful of fund being allocated in next years budget for the resurfacing of the village square.
THE Chairman of the Parish Council who is spearheading the campaign to keep the public toilets in Worsthorne open reported that a survey had been undertaken around two years ago which showed that few people used the toilets. On average only 15 people each day used them. The Parish Clerk is to write a letter expressing the serious concerns of the Parish Council and pointing out that recently the Mary Towneley Loop Bridleway, and a national cycle track had been opened. Bus drivers, taxi drivers and local community policemen also relied upon the conveniences in Worsthorne. When the toilets had been closed for repairs a few years ago it had caused problems.
