A 23-YEAR-OLD Blackburn man was jailed for five months for a string of motoring offences.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Imran Qayum twice tried to run away from police who stopped him driving while disqualified.
On one occasion he failed to give a sample of breath and also gave false details.
Qayum, of Nottingham Street, pleaded guilty to two offences of driving while disqualified and without insurance, failing to provide a specimen of breath and resisting a police officer.
Neil White, prosecuting, said Qayum had three previous convictions for driving while disqualified and one for drink driving.
Stephen Parker, defending, said his client was realistic about the likelihood of him receiving an immediate custodial sentence.
"He has run away and failed to surrender to bail but at the end of the day he has admitted his guilt and saved a great deal of court time," said Mr Parker.
