WHEN Barbara Hadcroft met the young electrician who worked with her father, she never suspected that he would be the man for her.
But on Thursday Mrs Hadcroft (80), and her husband, William, (82), celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The couple, of Coronation Gardens, Radcliffe, have lived in the town all their lives, and have two children, Victor (55) and Angela, (53).
Mr Hadcroft joined the Royal Navy at the age of 16 and served for 16 years, later working for the ambulance service. Mrs Hadcroft was in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War and later worked in fashion at Fothergills ladies shop in Church Street.
Since retiring, the pair enjoy spending time together at home and on holidays abroad. To celebrate their special anniversary, Mr and Mrs Hadcroft will be spending the day at home with their family, including four grandchildren, Rebekah, Richard, Michael and Samuel.
And at the weekend the couple will enjoy a meal with their family at Smithills Coaching House in Bolton.
