DESPITE being two players short, Leigh RMI Ladies defeated Greyhound Gunners 4-3.
Minutes after the start, Leigh went in front courtesy of a superb solo run and finish from Lou Sumner. Playing into the wind, RMI conceded a 30 yard goal which left the reserve goalkeeper with no chance.
Leigh started the second half on top again, and inevitably went in front again thanks to another solo effort from Sumner. A lack of marking in the box led to a second from Gunners. With Leigh always on top, led from the back by player of the match Sammy Steward, Joanne Wood, dribbled through to make it 3-2. Sumner completed her hat-trick with a great finish under pressure to make it 4-2. Credit should be given to stand in keeper, Billie Boardman who could do nothing to prevent Gunners third.
