A COLOURFUL view of life in India, including a wedding ceremony which lasted for days, were described by Sylvia Cook to members of Astley WI.
She spent a month in India where she witnessed the lifestyles of the rich and the poor and visited Bombay, Delhi and the foot of the Himalayas. Sylvia illustrated her enjoyable and informative talk with a sari, shoes, spices, nuts, crafts and many photographs.
Mrs B Bailey won the travel photo competition with Mrs P James runner-up.
Next Thursday (Feb 19) members will celebrate the WI's 51st anniversary with a buffet party.
On March 3 Peter Watson will examine folk lore. New members are welcome at meetings held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the Pensioners' Centre, Manchester Foad, Blackmoor.
