DARWEN travelled to The Cliff in Manchester with a depleted squad containing four 15-year-olds from their under 16s team, and fought valiantly to grind out a win against a strong United team in a seven-goal cup thriller.
Kat Forshaw opened the scoring for Darwen but United responded immediately with two quick fire goals to give them the lead at half time.
United went further ahead shortly after when Charlotte Dodd, the United left back, thundered a free kick in off the underside of the bar but Tracy Scott pulled one back before Kat Forshaw levelled.
With five minutes to go the silky midfield maestro, Kathy Beech, put Forshaw through again and her shot sailed ain to complete a hat-trick.
Darwen are looking for experienced players to strengthen their current squad. contact Nigel Ramsden on 01254 261604.
