"GET in there where it hurts," is the message from Shakers' boss Graham Barrow for his strikers.
The Bury chief reckons that a bit more bravery in the penalty area could reap dividends, as the Gigg Lane men look According to Barrow, last week's match at bottom-of-the-table Carlisle United was a case in point.
Despite taking the lead through Gareth Seddon, the Shakers went down to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Brunton Park.
In the manager's opinion his side had plenty of possession in the last third of the field to have still got something out of the game.
"We need to take more care when we are attacking," he said.
"We're careless when we are passing and we have to be a lot braver in the penalty area.
"There was a goal to be had last week if someone had got themselves into the danger zone.
"Gareth (Seddon) did well for us but he seems to score the same types of goals.
"We need someone to score, like the top strikers we've had at the club like Craig Madden and Mark Carter, who got them in the six yard box.
"Chris Porter needs to get braver and stronger, but he's still learning the game.
"Also, considering the work we do in training, we need to improve on our set pieces.
"Our deliver has been poor, but that's bravery too, it's all about taking a chance."
Barrow will be looking for an immediate reaction tomorrow when the Shakers have a chance to register their first double of the season when Cambridge United are the visitors.
It was back in October when goals from Lee Connell and Porter earned them a 2-1 victory in the away fixture.
The Bury boss believed that result was somewhat fortunate given the balance of play at the Abbey Stadium.
"We won against the run of play down there and I thought Cambridge played some good stuff," he admitted.
"But that game was played in the sunshine on a good surface and it will be a bit different tomorrow.
"This is the time of the season when teams get a bit 'twitchy' - you only have to look at some of the Premiership results this week.
"Teams in mid-table are looking towards getting to the play-offs and struggling teams are aiming to get out of trouble.
"It's a time when you need to keep a calm head and look to the positives in the team.
"I don't care what anybody says, I though we dominated at Carlisle last week and played well, but a couple of things went against us.
"Paul Simpson scored a good goal from a dubious free-kick and their winner was a deflection but for most of the second half we dominated.
"I don't think Glyn Garner had anything to do apart from deal with a couple of long range shots."
Barrow has a couple of injury worries ahead of tomorrow's game with midfielder Terry Dunfield and striker Jon Daly both doubts.
Dunfield was thought to have damaged his cartilage when his knee swelled up during the week but after a scan it would appear it is just bone bruising.
It has improved as the week has progressed and both he and Daly - who has an ankle problem - will be given as long as possible to prove their fitness.
Meanwhile winger Harpal Singh was due to have a run out in the reserve last night in a Manchester Senior Cup clash against Manchester United at Altrincham's Moss Lane ground.
The manager will wait to see how he gets through that game before deciding on his selection for tomorrow.
ON-LOAN defender Dave Challinor has been voted February's Forever Bury Player-of-the Month.
He wins a £50 voucher to spend at Drury's Menswear shop in Ramsbottom.
