VIEWERS of a new Granada TV series will see two of Morecambe's most historic buildings come back to life this weekend.
'Derelict Discoveries' is a four-part series which focuses on eight of the North West's finest buildings which are now derelict.
Two of them are Morecambe's Midland Hotel and the Winter Gardens theatre - both the subject of new bids for refurbishment.
Programme makers Dreamscope Productions say that the half-hour show, to be screened on Sunday at 5.45pm, has only been made possible thanks to local people.
Spokesman Darren Hutchinson says: "With the help of the paper we appealed for local people who knew anything about the history of either building to come forward and we had a great response.
"Their first hand accounts have given us a fantastic insight into the buildings and have helped us to bring them back to life in the series. The anecdotes gave us a true picture of exactly what The Winter Gardens and The Midland were like in their hey day.
"We were amazed at the support we received from the community while we were filming in Morecambe and only wish we could have included all of the personal memories we heard."
