I WOULD like to reply to the comments made by the leader of Lancaster City Council on the front page of last weeks Citizen.
Cllr Ian Barker referred to my party the England First Party as 'Nazis' and said that it is disturbing that we have shown our face in the area - meaning Heysham South I guess.
Let me put him straight. The England First Party is a legal democratic party taking part in the process of elections - that is why I am standing as a candidate in the by-election.
If Cllr Barker finds it disturbing that we take part in the democratic process, does this mean he is against all party's which he does not like standing in elections?
This sounds very 'Nazi' to me. Are you sure it's not Cllr Barker who is the 'Nazi'?
He further goes on to claim that our local policies are 'irrelevant'. Well that's not what we have heard on the doorsteps of Heysham South, where we have been getting support for local policies such as low council tax (under 5 per cent), restoration of local democracy, shrinkage of bureaucracy, saving local amenities and opposition to selling council assets;
We are also getting backing for our national policies of an end to all further immigration, no more refugees or asylum seekers, withdrawal from the European Union, saving our pound and getting tough on crime.
In fact it is Labour that is getting more and irrelevant as each day goes on.
I would, however, endorse Cllr Barker's final statement that 'the voters of Heysham will reject extremism'. I do hope the voters will reject the extreme policy of flooding our small country with hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers and refugees which the Labour Party supports.
Paul Bamford, England First Party candidate for Heysham South, Broyd View, Lancaster.
